I am Rui Ma, an urban researcher with a Ph.D. in Urban Analytics from the City University of Hong Kong. My research explores how data science, artificial intelligence, and computational modeling can drive the transformation toward sustainable, intelligent, and resilient cities.. Key areas of my work include:

  • Sustainable Urban Systems: Developing scalable and reproducible frameworks for modeling, evaluating, and optimizing urban sustainability, with a focus on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and data-driven policy support for climate-neutral cities.
  • Smart Cities: Advancing the digital transformation of urban environments through the integration of IoT data, digital twins, and AI-enabled decision support systems that enhance livability, resilience, and management efficiency.
  • GeoAI: Combining geospatial analytics and machine learning to uncover spatial patterns, predict urban behaviors, and model human–environment interactions across multiple scales using large-scale open geodata.
  • Urban Building Energy Management: Creating city-scale and distributed energy simulation models that bridge physics-based modeling and AI-driven surrogate learning, enabling rapid and accurate prediction of building energy use and emissions.

Feel free to connect with me through my LinkedIn profile or reach out directly via email. I am open to collaborative opportunities and discussions about potential projects that align with my research interests.
